Believing in the power of God and God’s ability to do the impossible is the foundation of Kia’s ministry.   A national preacher, motivator, speaker and mentor, she has had a tremendous impact on our society. Through God, Kia has generated a passion to reach all those who desire hear about the unmovable word of God, leading many to Jesus Christ. Kia is known for her preaching, energy, personality and commitment to doing Kingdom work.  

Kia is a Cum Laude graduate from Winston-Salem State University, earning a Bachelor degree in Rehabilitation Studies and a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling. She holds a Masters in Divinity from Wake Forest University and Doctorate of Ministry from United Theological Seminary, Dayton Ohio.

Dr. Kia Hood –Scott is a recipient of the Catherine Amos Christian Education Award given by Wake Forest University School of Divinity because of her tremendous contribution to Christian Education and ministry with youth and young adults. Kia has also been recognized by The Ecumenical Institute of the Carolinas for her efforts, both scholarly and personal that support the overall goals of the Ecumenical Institute and for the potential demonstration to make even greater contribution in the future for ministry.  

 

Kia has been afforded the opportunity to be a guest presenter for many organizations and churches including the Congress of Christian Education for the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, NAACP Honors Award Celebration of Johnston County, United Theological Seminar in Dayton, Ohio, Wake Forest University School of Divinity to name a few.  

Dr. Hood –Scott is a member of Union Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, under the leadership of Senior Pastor and Overseer, Bishop Sir Walter Lee Mack, Jr.  Kia began her journey in ministry as the Youth and College Ministry Program Director for eleven years at Union. Currently, Dr. Hood- Scott serves as the Director of Preaching and Worship. In her recent elevation, Dr. Hood-Scott has been appointed as the Site Pastor for Union Baptist Church,  Jamestown –High Point. 

Dr. Hood – Scott is supported in ministry by her husband, Mr. George L. Scott Jr., her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick and Rosa Hood and sister Kiadrick Hood.
